Carbon Steel BS 6323 pipes mainly have iron with between 0.20% to 0.30% carbon, supplemented with manganese (0.60% to 1.20%), silicon, and trace elements such as phosphorus and sulfur. The pipes also have mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength from 440–550 MPa, a yield strength of minimum 225 MPa, and elongation by 20% or higher based on grade.
