Carbon Steel BS 3606 tubes are made up largely of iron with carbon content between 0.30% and 0.60%, in addition to manganese (0.60% to 1.20%), silicon, and trace elements like sulfur and phosphorus. The tubes have very good mechanical properties, including tensile strength of 510–650 MPa, minimum yield point of 285 MPa, and elongation of 20% or more.
