Stainless Steel 420 Pipes are martensitic stainless steel pipes that have a chromium content of about 12–14% and carbon content of more than 0.15%, which provides them with superior hardness and strength. The pipes are magnetic in nature and can be heat treated to gain superior mechanical properties such as tensile strength of 700–850 MPa and yield strength of about 345 MPa. SS 420 has moderate corrosion resistance, which is enhanced by good heat treatment and surface finish. It also possesses good impact resistance and ductility in the annealed state and is therefore applicable to components that need both mechanical strength and wear resistance.
