Aluminium 6082 Tubing is heat-treatable alloy containing mainly aluminium (about 95–97%), large quantities of silicon (0.7–1.3%) and magnesium (0.6–1.2%), and minute residues of manganese, iron, and chromium. The alloy has high strength, good corrosion resistance, and weldability. It possesses a normal tensile strength of between 290 to 340 MPa and yield strength of between 240 to 280 MPa, depending on the temper (e.g., T6 or T651). Aluminium 6082 also has good machinability and good fatigue strength and is hence applicable for load-bearing structures and high-stress components.
