Aluminium 5005 Tubing is an aluminium-magnesium alloy consisting mostly of aluminium (around 97.5–99.5%) and magnesium (0.5–1.1%), with minor elements such as iron, silicon, and manganese. The alloy provides moderate strength, good corrosion resistance, and fair weldability. It possesses a typical tensile strength of between 145 and 190 MPa and a yield strength of about 110 MPa, depending on temper. Although non-heat-treatable, its strength can be increased by cold working. Aluminium 5005 is also renowned for its good anodizing properties, which make it particularly well-suited to decorative finishes and applications where high surface quality is needed.
