Aluminum 5086 Tubing is made mainly of aluminum (about 92.5%), along with the dominant alloying ingredient being magnesium (3.5–4.5%) and traces of manganese (0.2–0.7%) and chromium (0.05–0.25%). The tubing exhibits tensile strength varying between 275 and 350 MPa as well as a yield strength that falls between 125 to 290 MPa based on temper. Although it is not heat-treatable, strength may be increased by cold working.
