Aluminium 2017 Tubes contains primarily aluminium with copper as the major alloying agent contributing high strength and excellent machinability. The alloy has approximately 4.0-5.0% copper and minute amounts of manganese, silicon and iron. It has excellent fatigue strength, high tensile strength and excellent hardness. The tubing is heat treatable and hence best suited for applications involving high requirements. Its physical characteristics include a density of 2.85 g/cm³ and a melting point of around 550°C. It has excellent corrosion resistance particularly in certain environments.
