Aluminium 5005 Pipes consist of a non-heat-treatable aluminium-magnesium alloy, which is made up of about 97.5% aluminium and 0.5%–1.1% magnesium as the main alloying element. This makes it resistant to corrosion well, particularly in marine and industrial atmospheres, and has very good weldability. The alloy has moderate strength with tensile strength usually between 170 and 230 MPa and yield strength around 65 to 125 MPa, depending on the temper. Aluminium 5005 also possesses very good surface finish properties, and it is thus ideal for anodizing and architectural uses where appearance and corrosion resistance are of equal concern.
