The alloy possesses high tensile strength, good fatigue resistance, and good machinability. In T4 or T6 temper, Aluminium 2017 Pipes have tensile strengths of about 430 MPa and yield strengths of about 275 MPa. Although they possess average resistance to corrosion, they find frequent application with protective coatings or anodizing to improve longevity, especially under conditions where high workability and strength are essential.
