Aluminium 2024 Pipes consist mainly of aluminium (about 90.7%), with copper (3.8–4.9%) as the primary alloying component, together with minor amounts of magnesium, manganese, and iron. This heat-treatable high-strength alloy possesses good fatigue strength and good machinability. In T3 or T6 temper, Aluminium 2024 Pipes can attain tensile strengths of up to 470 MPa and yield strengths of about 325 MPa. Although less corrosion-resistant than some other aluminium alloys, their stronger mechanical properties render them suitable for structural and aeronautical use when high strength-to-weight ratios and stress performance are required.
