Stainless Steel 321 and 321H Welded Pipes are titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel. SS 321 has 17–19% chromium, 9–12% nickel, and titanium (≥5x C%), which stabilizes the material with respect to carbide precipitation. SS 321H is the high-carbon variant (0.04–0.10%) for higher high-temperature strength. Both grades have very good mechanical properties: tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. These welded pipes maintain strength and toughness at high temperatures, and also provide superior resistance to corrosion and oxidation, particularly in continuous service conditions up to 900°C.

Stainless Steel 321 and 321H Welded Pipes have extensive applications at high temperature and pressure. Its resistance to intergranular corrosion makes it especially suitable for application in heat exchangers, superheaters, and power plant and petrochemical parts of furnaces. SS 321 finds large-scale application in aircraft exhaust equipment, chemical process equipment, and refinery equipment due to its great weldability and resistance to oxidation. SS 321H, which has a greater content of carbon, is used where higher creep resistance is needed, e.g., boiler tubes and thermal fluid piping. Both are also used in food processing, pharmaceuticals, and marine systems where reliability, cleanliness, and heat resistance are required.
