SA178 Tubes are mostly carbon steel, with grades usually being Grade A and Grade C. Their chemical composition consists of carbon (up to 0.27%), manganese (0.93–1.20%), and trace amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. These tubes have good mechanical properties, with tensile strength approximately 415 MPa, yield strength approximately 255 MPa, and good elongation and ductility (at least 30%). SA178 tubes are electric-resistance welded and are frequently stress-relieved to maintain uniformity and strength. They can be relied upon due to their high-temperature, high-pressure resistance, which makes them popular for use in heat exchanger and boiler applications.
