Stainless Steel 317/317L Seamless Tubing is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel alloy with a higher corrosion resistance, particularly chemical attack. SS 317 includes more molybdenum (3–4%) and chromium (18–20%), whereas 317L includes a reduced carbon amount for improved weldability. Both tubes have impressive tensile strength (515 MPa min), yield strength (205 MPa min), and good elongation, which suits them for applications in high-stress conditions. The higher resistance of the alloy to pitting, crevice corrosion, and oxidation at elevated temperatures makes it ideal for aggressive chemical and marine environments.
