Stainless Steel 316 and 316L Seamless Tubing are molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steels with excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-bearing conditions. The two grades both include chromium (16–18%), nickel (10–14%), and molybdenum (2–3%), but the 316L has reduced carbon content (max 0.03%) to improve weldability and minimize the chance of carbide precipitation. The tube has a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa. These mechanical characteristics, with high formability and toughness, make 316 and 316L the perfect choice for applications of high performance in hostile and corrosive conditions.
