Monel 400 Tubing is a solid solution alloy with a major composition of about 63% nickel and 28–34% copper and with small quantities of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. The composition offers superior resistance to seawater, acids, and alkalis. Monel 400 has good tensile strength from 480–620 MPa and good yield strength at about 170 MPa. It also has good ductility, impact strength, and retains strength over a wide range of temperatures. The good weldability and workability of the alloy render it appropriate for different fabrication processes, which are the reasons behind its popularity in harsh industrial conditions.
